Nines was founded in April of 2020, right after the start of the global pandemic. Our current investors and founders of e-commerce company Jet.com (acquired by Walmart in 2016 for $3.3B) encouraged us to research the private service industry and identify ways we can help both families and their support teams after they experienced the challenges. This set us on our mission to "simplify and elevate household life by modernizing the private service industry. "
Initially, we provided a service to recruit, train, and employ private service professionals for families. After a year, it became clear that a better and more innovative approach to help all stakeholders was a purpose-built software and mobile app to centralize and provide (permission level) access to all the information, projects, and processes of the household. Especially since until then most families used spreadsheets and text messages. This platform would provide more support, transparency, order, continuity, and security for all involved. Enter the Nines household management platform in early 2022. Read more in this Crain Currency interview with co-founder Mohamed Elzomor.
Now, Nines is backed by VCP Ventures (Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez), and advised by Marta Perrone. We were named a winner of the 2024 Family Wealth Report Awards for Innovation and a top Family Office solution in Forbes.
By the way, our name Nines comes from the expression "to the Nines" meaning to strive for perfection or the highest degree. This comes from our strong believe in Arete, a concept in ancient Greek thought that, in its most basic sense, refers to "excellence" of any kind —especially a person or thing's "full realization of potential or inherent function." The term may also refer to excellence in "moral virtue." This strongly appeals to us as a team, and applies to the households and private service professionals we work with.
