How do I add, edit, duplicate, and delete tasks?

Note that the below instructions apply only to users with the permission to view, create, update, and/or delete Tasks.

You can add a new Task using the red '+ Add new' button on the Tasks page. Only the Subject and Property are required fields. (reminder that Categories on Tasks can be customized if you want to categorize them in a different way).

When creating or editing a Task, you can set a Start and End Date. The End Date triggers any reminder or overdue notifications. However, if you mark the Task as “This is an all-day task” without a specific time, these notifications won’t be sent.

You can assign the Task to one or more people. If they are Nines users, they’ll receive an assignment notification. If they are non-users—such as Residents, Staff, Vendors, or Contacts—the assignment serves only as a way to categorize the Task.

To view a Task you can click on the Subject name in the overview (where you can also click the checkbox to complete the Task right away) and see a Quick View overlay with the ability to make some select edits incl updating the Status, checking of the Checklist, and adding a Comment. It also shows the pencil icon on the top right next to the Task name to make other edits. To go to the Task detail page, click on the Task name instead.

You can further edit and delete a Task on its Task detail page using the pencil and trash icons on the top right next to the Task name, respectively. Note that deleting a Task will permanently delete the page and any information.

Lastly, you can duplicate a Task to create a copy. To do this, click the duplicate icon on the detail page. Edit your duplicate as much as you need to, and get a jump start on your next task! Note that any connections and attachments you've added to a task will also be duplicated, but they may take a minute to display.
