How do I connect Nines to Claude or ChatGPT using MCP?

The Nines Model Context Protocol (MCP) integration allows you to securely connect your Nines account to AI assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT. Once connected, you can ask natural language questions about your Nines data, generate summaries, create reports, and much more.

MCP is currently available as a limited beta with read-only access to Tasks for a select group of clients.

What can I do with the Nines MCP?

Once connected, you can ask Claude or ChatGPT questions about the Tasks you have permission to access in Nines.

Examples include:

• Summarize all open tasks due this week
• Show overdue tasks across all properties
• Which properties have the most outstanding work?
• Group my tasks by category or assignee
• Summarize recurring maintenance tasks
• Compare task volume between properties
• Create a weekly operations summary
• Generate a management report for open tasks
• Identify tasks that have been open the longest
• Turn my task list into a table or chart

Because you're using a full AI assistant, you can also ask it to:

• Create executive summaries
• Build comparison tables
• Generate graphs and charts
• Rewrite information into emails or reports
• Answer follow-up questions about the results

Before you begin

An Account Owner must first enable MCP access for your organization.

Step 1: Enable MCP access

1. Open the Admin Console
2. Navigate to Security
3. Enable MCP access

This allows users within your organization to connect approved AI assistants to Nines.

Note

Users will still only be able to access information they already have permission to view in Nines.

 

Step 2: Find your MCP connection details

Each user connects their own account.

1. Click your profile.
2. Open Settings.
3. Select Connected apps.
4. Expand Adding an MCP server to an LLM.
5. Copy the MCP Server URL.

The page also contains instructions for connecting supported AI assistants.

Step 3: Connect Claude or ChatGPT

Claude

1. Open Claude.
2. Go to Settings → Connectors.
3. Choose Add custom connector.
4. Give it a name (for example, Nines).
5. Paste the MCP Server URL from Nines.
6. Save the connector.

Claude will then ask you to sign in to Nines and authorize access.

ChatGPT

1. Open ChatGPT.
2. Navigate to Settings → Connectors (or Connected Apps, depending on your version).
3. Add a Custom Connector.
4. Enter the MCP Server URL from Nines.
5. Complete the authorization process.

Step 4: Grant access

The first time you connect, you'll be asked to authorize the connection.

After signing in, you'll see an authorization screen requesting permission for Claude or ChatGPT to access your Nines account.

Select Grant access.

The AI assistant will use:

• your existing Nines account
• your current roles
• your existing permissions

It cannot access information you would not normally be able to see.

You can revoke this access at any time from Settings → Connected Apps.

Using the MCP

After connecting, simply start asking questions in Claude or ChatGPT.

The first time you use a Nines tool—or whenever additional permission is required—the AI assistant will ask whether it can access your Nines Tasks.

Choose:

• Always Allow to avoid being prompted again for that tool
• Allow Once if you only want to approve the current request
• Deny to cancel the request

Try asking questions like:

Weekly summaries

• Summarize all my open tasks this week.
• What should I prioritize today?
• Give me an executive summary of this week's workload.
• Which properties have the most work outstanding?

Property insights

• Show all overdue tasks for Malibu Estate.
• Which property has the highest number of open maintenance tasks?
• Compare open tasks across all households.

Reporting

• Create a table of all open tasks grouped by assignee.
• Create a graph showing open tasks by property.
• Summarize recurring tasks due this month.
• Export a management summary I can email to my team.

Analysis

• Which tasks have been open the longest?
• What recurring work happens every week?
• Are there any high-priority tasks due in the next seven days?
• Which categories generate the most work?

Security

Your data remains protected throughout the connection.

• Authentication is handled securely through your Nines account.
• Claude or ChatGPT only accesses data you already have permission to view.
• Current beta access is read-only.
• You can disconnect the integration at any time from Settings → Connected Apps.
