How do I use AI to interact with Documents?

Nines AI can help you quickly understand and explore your Documents without reading them from start to finish. You can generate a summary, ask questions about the document, or use AI-generated suggested questions to uncover important details.

AI only answers questions using information contained within the Document. If the answer isn't in the Document, AI will let you know rather than making something up.

Open a Document

Navigate to Documents and open the Document you want to review.

Scroll to the Interact with document section.

You will see:

• Make me a summary
• Ask me about this document
• Several AI-generated suggested questions based on the contents of the Document

Generate a summary

Click Make me a summary to receive a concise overview of the Document.

The summary highlights the most important information, making it easy to understand lengthy manuals, contracts, specification sheets, reports, and other Documents.

Ask questions about a Document

Click Ask me about this document to open the AI chat panel.

Type any question related to the Document, such as:

• What are the warranty terms?
• What maintenance is required?
• What model numbers are included?
• What are the installation requirements?

AI searches the Document and responds using only the information found within it.

Note: AI cannot answer questions that are not supported by the contents of the Document to avoid AI hallucinating and making things up

Use suggested questions

Nines automatically generates suggested questions based on the Document's contents.

These suggestions help you quickly explore important information without having to think of questions yourself.

Examples include:

• Comparing specifications across models
• Identifying technical requirements
• Listing compatible accessories
• Summarizing key features
• Highlighting important dates or requirements

Simply click any suggested question to receive an answer.

Continue the conversation

After receiving an answer or summary, you can continue asking follow-up questions within the same chat.

For example:

• "Can you explain that in simpler terms?"
• "Which model has the highest capacity?"
• "Where is that mentioned in the document?"

Best practices

For the best results:

• Upload clear, searchable Documents whenever possible.
• Ask specific questions rather than broad or unrelated ones.
• Use the summary first to understand the overall contents before asking detailed questions.
• Review AI responses before making important decisions.

• AI responses are based only on the contents of the Document.
• If the requested information is not present, AI will indicate that it could not find an answer.
• AI-generated responses may occasionally be inaccurate. Always verify important information by reviewing the original Document.
• AI works with many types of Documents, including manuals, specifications, invoices, reports, contracts, warranties, and more.
