# How do I get started with Nines?

While Nines aims to be easy and intuitive, it is good to think through your approach before getting started using Nines. Our platform is a means to an end, so what is your end goal? What do other stakeholders need to get from the system that informs what to put in? Our in-house estate management consultant can help you, talking through your specific situation and how to organize your information and empower all the different stakeholders.

 

That said, a general approach to getting started is to first built out a foundation, and over time add more details, because aiming to have every last detail in Nines from the start is unrealistic and overwhelming.

- Consider [protocols](https://go.ninesliving.com/en/support/how-do-i-create-edit-and-delete-protocols-plus-tips?hsLang=en) for every property
- Add your most important people, most likely [residents](https://go.ninesliving.com/en/support/how-to-add-edit-and-delete-residents?hsLang=en) and [staff](https://go.ninesliving.com/en/support/how-to-add-edit-and-delete-staff?hsLang=en), maybe some [vendors](https://go.ninesliving.com/en/support/how-to-add-edit-and-delete-vendors?hsLang=en)
  
    - Before inviting anyone the admin will first want to [manage the categories](https://go.ninesliving.com/en/support/how-do-i-customize-categories?hsLang=en) and then [set permission roles based on them](https://go.ninesliving.com/en/support/how-do-i-set-and-manage-user-permissions?hsLang=en) so you assign new users the correct role and rights

- Put in the most important [assets](https://go.ninesliving.com/en/support/how-do-i-add-edit-delete-assets?hsLang=en) and some additional [vendors](https://go.ninesliving.com/en/support/how-to-add-edit-and-delete-vendors?hsLang=en) that help maintain them
- Include important household [contacts](https://go.ninesliving.com/en/support/how-to-add-edit-and-delete-contacts?hsLang=en), ranging from family & friends to local emergency contacts
- And start using Nines by creating [lists](https://go.ninesliving.com/en/support/how-do-i-add-edit-and-delete-lists?hsLang=en), assigning [tasks](https://go.ninesliving.com/en/support/how-do-i-add-edit-and-delete-tasks?hsLang=en), and adding [documents](https://go.ninesliving.com/en/support/how-do-i-add-edit-and-delete-documents?hsLang=en) and [logs](https://go.ninesliving.com/en/support/how-do-i-add-edit-and-delete-logs?hsLang=en) as you go
